Permafrost
Llamamos permafrost a las tierras que están permanentemente congeladas, siempre que la temperatura sea inferior a 0°C durante varios años. También se les suele llamar permagel o permacongelamiento. Existe permafrost en varias zonas del globo, como Canadá, Alaska, Siberia y Noruega.
El permafrost se divide en dos capas: la más profunda y helada (pergelisol), y la más superficial, que suele descongelarse (mollisol).
